Myth Drannor is an ancient elven city that was long abandoned before the events of Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor. In the game's story, a dracolich named Pelendralaar and his sorcerer queen Kya Mordrayn seize control of the Mythal, the ancient magic that once protected the ruins.

Lore & Background
According to the game's plot, the cult of Kya Mordrayn intends to expand its domination from Myth Drannor one city at a time. The Baelnorn Mirroden Silverblade informs heroes that the gem of the weave was thought destroyed, but it is actually intact and held by the cult beneath Castle Cormanthor.
In Their Own Story
Athan's band of heroes enters a magical portal to arrive at the ruins of Myth Drannor. They must locate the gauntlets of Moander and learn the correct word of power to open them. The party eventually reaches the pool of radiance through a magic portal inside Castle Cormanthor, where Kya Mordrayn is slain and Pelendralaar breaks through a cave wall.
Reader's Guide
To escape the dungeons of Myth Drannor and enter other parts of the city such as Windrider glade, heroes must find the ring of calling to open the seal of Mythanthor. The game focuses on dungeon crawling and hack-and-slash combat rather than story progression or interaction with NPCs.
